Online safety webinars
The National Safeguarding Team has commissioned Catherine Knibbs, Child Trauma Psychotherapist and Researcher, Consultant, Writer, Speaker and Trainer, to run online safety webinars.
The session will cover:
- What are online harms and why does this result in cyber trauma?
- Online risks and challenges to consider in safeguarding
- Questions that you can ask to inform your practice
- What are the dangers/risks and concerns with online technologies?
- How to use current legislation to support your work with vulnerable groups
Two dates are available: 19 and 26 January 2026. Each session takes place online and will run from 10:00 - 14.30pm GMT/WET | 11:00 - 15:30 CET. To book a place please email: safeguarding.learning@churchofengland.org.
Safeguarding Service - 14 November 2025
Watch our Safeguarding Service, which kicked off the Safeguarding weekend on Friday, 14th November. Led by the Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral, Gibraltar, The Very Reverend Canon Ian Tarrant, with a reflection by Bishop Robert. The service also featured voices from around the diocese.

The conference featured a presentation by Revd Canon Graeme Pringle, Director and Founder of Clearly Simpler Ltd, developer of the Parish Dashboard. Grace also shared information about the INEQE audit, scheduled for October 2027. INEQE Safeguarding Group was appointed by the Archbishops’ Council to carry out the next round of independent external audits of Church of England dioceses and cathedrals. The purpose of these audits is to make sure dioceses and cathedrals are doing all they can to create environments where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. CSO mentoring workshops
Thank you to Carolyn, Maxine and Celia for running this series of workshops, and thank you to the safeguarding officers who attended.
The first workshop looked at the responsibilities of the role, Confidential Declaration Forms, the Chaplaincy Roles Checklist and the CSO's relationship with the chaplaincy council. Watch the recording here.
