Content Audit

Before you start building your website, it’s helpful to make a list of everything you already have. This includes things like:
- Written content
- Photos and logos
- Documents or PDFs
- Videos
Putting all this together in one place helps you see what’s useful, what’s missing, and what might no longer be needed. It also makes it easier for whoever is uploading the content to know what’s available and where to find it.
Keep in mind: if you’re setting up a new website, you probably won’t be able to copy everything over as it is — and it’s a good chance to refresh and update your content too.
Once you’ve listed everything, take a step back and ask:
- Is this content still useful?
- Does it meet the needs of the people visiting your site?
- Is it written in a clear, friendly way that works well online?
Getting your content ready is one of the most important parts of building a successful website. Without knowing what you’ve got and how it will be organised, it’s hard to choose the right layout or design.
You might love the look of a website with big images and bold headlines, but to make that work, you’ll need high-quality photos and well-written content.
Always make sure your content is relevant and helpful for the people you’re trying to reach.
