2025 Safeguarding Conferences
Save the date! Our Spring conference will be on Thursday 29th May starting @ 16:00 BST and WEST/17:00 CEST/18:00 EEST. The event will run for three hours and will be recorded for colleagues who are unable to attend on the day.
We look forward to welcoming Bishop Andrew Norman, our new Suffragan Bishop and Lead Bishop for Safeguarding. Our keynote speaker will be Revd Jean-Bosco Turahirwa, Assistant Chaplain of the Pro-Cathedral of The Holy Trinity, Brussels, who will speak about managing conflict. It wall also be an opportunity for CSOs and ASOs to network.
The conference, of course, is free to attend and we hope to see as many CSOs and ASOs who are able to be there. Archdeacons, Area Deans, members of Eden Voice and DSAC, safeguarding trainers and colleagues from the diocesan offices are also encouraged to join us for what should be an interesting and informative event.
Our November conference will again be the the day before Safeguarding Sunday. Stay tuned for more details.
CSO mentoring workshops
Thank you for carrying out this very important part in the Church’s ministry. It is appreciated that the role of a Chaplaincy Safeguarding Officer is not only challenging but can often feel isolated. This is especially true in our diocese with the factors of distance, as well as different languages, cultures, and laws. This is the reason a team of experienced CSOs have put together a series of workshops which aim to help CSOs by covering some of the building blocks of your role.
Each workshop is scheduled for 2 hours. Saturday workshops start @ 10:00 WEST/11:00 CEST/12:00 EEST, and weekday @ 17:30 WEST/18:30 CEST/19:30 EEST.
The first workshop will look at the responsibilities of the role, Confidential Declaration Forms, the Chaplaincy Roles Checklist and the CSO's relationship with the chaplaincy council.
