Bishop Andrew helps Monaco Chaplaincy celebrate centenary
Bishop Andrew said: ‘I was delighted to join St Paul’s Monaco for their centenary celebrations. During the Eucharist, the Sunday School learnt all about bishops and the symbols of their office. Afterwards, wearing the mitres they’d made, I was presented with a St Paul’s microwaveable teddy bear, scented with lavender from Provence.’
This year is the centenary of the consecration of St Paul’s Monaco. Bishop Andrew joined them last weekend as part of their programme of centenary events. A choir of alumni from King’s Canterbury took part in the weekend’s activities, with a performance of Faure’s Requiem on the Saturday and participation in the Sunday morning service.
The theme of the Sunday School was bishops and their insignia (ie a crook, mitre etc). Their activities included making mitres, which they all wore when they joined the service for Holy Communion and during refreshments afterwards in the Library, overlooking the Mediterranean.
