Creationtide

Each year during Creationtide, we are encouraged to focus on the wonderful world that God has created and to spend time interacting with nature.
Creationtide 2025 has now drawn to a close
This year the season ran from 1 September - 4 October, with the theme Peace with Creation, based on Isaiah 32:14-18. The prophet Isaiah pictured the desolated Creation without peace because of the lack of justice and the broken relationship between people and God. This description of devastated cities and wastelands reveals how human destructive behaviours have a negative impact on the Earth.
Our hope: Creation will find peace when justice is restored. There is still hope and the expectation for a peaceful Earth. To hope does not mean to stand still and quiet, but to act, pray, change, and reconcile with Creation and the Creator in unity, repentance and solidarity.
How we celebrated as a diocese
There were a range of initiatives, social action, prayer and fellowship events this year. Here is an article about some of the chaplaincies and people involved. We also:
Ran a Diocesan online event
An online event was organised by the Diocese in Europe Care for Creation group, called Environmental Champions. It was an opportunity to ask questions, learn and share ideas and featured three experts from different fields:
a scientist: Warren Cairns, Senior Researcher, Institute of Polar Sciences of the Italian National Research Council
a theologian: Jack McDonald, Canon Theologian, Diocese in Europe
and an activist: Mags Bird, Activist with Christian Climate Action

Shared information about Carbon360
This easy-to-use online tool has been developed for chaplaincy use to help calculate carbon footprint and to enable support with grants and resources. We will be sharing how it works for chaplaincies.
Focused on chaplaincy eco-newsletters
We shared stories of positive climate action directly from local chaplaincies, to empower, inspire or simply duplicate!
Published the bespoke Nicene Creed reflections
Produced especially for our diocese, a short series of resources to help individuals and chaplaincies reflect on the Creed during Creationtide.
Shared resources specifically for 2025
The Church of England: Season of Creation
Nicaea and Care for Creation: Reflections from Revd Annie Bolger, Associate Chaplain in Norway
