Trinity Sunday and our Nicene Creed Celebrations

At the beginning of our celebrations of the Nicene Creed this year, Bishop Robert stated, "I am excited this anniversary year to be declaring with Christians across the globe God’s saving intent for humanity as expressed in our ancient creed."
An intrinsic element of this celebration is expressed in our music and worship. As such, Bishop Robert encourages all chaplaincies to sing the 'Hymn to the Trinity', written by Bishop Geoffrey Rowell, the previous Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe.
Although it is suitable on any Sunday, it is particularly commended for Trinity Sunday. Below is a recording of the wonderful choir at Holy Trinity Geneva singing it (with much thanks to them for recording it!). It can be sung to several different tunes, including Ode to Joy, Abbot’s Leigh, Blaenwern, Ebenezer, Hyfrydol, and Lux Eoi).
In further recognition of the importance of Trinity Sunday, Clare Amos (the Diocesan Director of Lay Discipleship), has written a wonderful article about what it really means to see God as Trinity, which you can read here: Trinity Sunday: Our invitation to join the divine circle of love. In it, she states;
'I am glad we are being encouraged to sing Bishop Geoffrey Rowell’s great Trinitarian hymn as part of our celebration of ‘Trinity’ this year...Even a cursory read of it makes it clear how the mutual love eternally existing within the Trinity is its central theme. The word ‘love’ appears in each of the five verses: I am particularly struck by his description of the Holy Spirit as ‘the bond of love’. '
We hope your communities will enjoy singing this glorious hymn! We would love to see videos or photos of you doing so - but whether or not you are able to capture these, please let us know if you have enjoyed singing it.
