A joyful visit from Bishop Hugh Nelson
Last Sunday Christ Church, Kyiv was delighted to welcome Bishop Hugh Nelson from the Diocese of Worcester to our Anglican community. It was a particular joy as he preached and celebrated Holy Communion. It was lovely that he accepted the invitation to visit extended to him by Revd Kasta Dip, chaplain of Warsaw with oversight for the chaplaincy - Christ Church Kyiv.
"Bishop Hugh’s presence enriched our worship and brought a strong sense of connection with the wider Anglican Communion. His sermon spoke to our hearts, and presiding at the Eucharist alongside Revd Kasta was a meaningful reminder of the bonds that unite all churches.
After the service we enjoyed coffee time together, giving everyone the chance to greet the Bishop and share conversation. Later in the day we continued our fellowship over dinner with members of the community. These informal moments of welcome, laughter and shared table were as important as the liturgy itself — a real expression of Christian hospitality and mutual encouragement.
We are grateful to Bishop Hugh for making the journey to be with the community in Kyiv, for his generosity in ministry, and for the encouragement he brought.
Please continue to hold our community in your prayers as we seek to serve Christ faithfully here in Kyiv."
