Mission to Seafarers: Sea Sunday 2026
The Diocese in Europe have a long standing relationship in supporting the Mission to Seafarers. You can read and watch more about that here: Mission to Seafarers. Sea Sunday is an annual event when churches around the world come together to pray for seafarers, give thanks for their vital work, and support the Mission to Seafarers’ life‑changing frontline ministry. This year it is being held on 12th July with a theme of Harbours of Hope.
Our chaplaincies have supported them in various ways on this day over the years, for instance knitting hats and scarves in Marseilles. There are many way in which you can be involved - and you definitely don't need to be living near a port to do so! Here, the Reverend Jennifer Pridmore (Chaplain at St Mary's, Rotterdam) interviews Rev Danial Odhiambo (Port Chaplain in Rotterdam) about this year's event, 'Harbours of Hope' and looks at how you may choose to get involved:
Please let us know if you get involved in your chaplaincy or as an individual. Let us all continue to join in prayer for all seafarers in their incredibly difficult trade, with gratitude for all they do. In particular we remember our Chaplains, Port Chaplains and volunteers who give so much to support them.

Prayer for Seafarers
Lord God, we depend on you for life itself. We depend on seafarers for many of our daily needs. Watch over them, keep them from danger, befriend them in loneliness and bring them safely home to those they love.
Amen.
