Canon Tuomas Mäkipää installed at St Pauls, Malta
The Revd Canon Tuomas Mäkipääc was installed as Canon in St Paul's pro-cathedral in Malta on Mothering Sunday.
He was joined by his wife, Suvi Mäkipää and his children Emil (15), Lauri (6) and Lukas (who travelled to Malta on his first birthday 12th March)
"It was a real joy to visit at St Paul's Pro-cathedral and to preach and concelebrate the Eucharist together with the Chancellor" he said.
My stall is named after St Titus who, as companion of Paul, was a Bishop of Crete where I was ordained. As St Paul's co-worker, he often found himself in tough situations.
Chancellor David Wright and Alice gave us a warm welcome as did the whole Cathedral community.
In my sermon I focused on the wider and deeper meaning of mothering:
"Mothering is something much larger than a single day or a single relationship. It is part of the quiet work of sustaining the world. And perhaps it is also a reminder of what we see at the foot of the cross: that in Christ we are entrusted to one another. Mothering Sunday, in the end, is about that sense of home. Not only the home we remember from childhood, but the deeper home we find in belonging to God and to one another."

Join us in prayers of thanksgiving for Revd Canon Tuomas Mäkipääc in his ministry and the community at St Paul's Pro Cathedral.
