Football Faith and our Future Windrush Day Reflection
Here is an introduction from The Venerable Dr Leslie Nathaniel Archdeacon (Erzdekan) of Germany and Northern Europe and the Eastern Archdeaconry:
"As we continue to follow the Football World Cup, and England also continues to mark Windrush Day, the Revd Canon Dr Guy Hewitt, the Director of Racial Justice of the Church of England, offered the following reflection as to why, also sixty years on from the English 1966 World Cup victory, so many people are still made to feel like strangers in their own home.
One of the tasks of the Racial Justice Working Group of the Diocese in Europe is to continue to raise awareness in Church and Society regarding the place of Racial Justice in all that we do. The life and witness of our Diocese encourages greater sensitivity in our relationships, seeks to discover the potential of the other and the strangers in our midst, celebrates the gift of diversity in our Diocese and in the Ecumenical Movement, and to continues to transform and build communities of BELONGING in our Diocese – in House Groups, in our work of establishing new congregations in mission and in church growth, in our wonderful chaplaincies across the Diocese, as well as in our Deanery and Archdeaconry Synods.
Friends, it is in this spirit that we share the reflection with you all."
