Prayer Events and Resources
The Church of England has resources on their website here, including liturgy, some pointers on how to approach prayer, and some topical prayers: Prayer and Worship
There are several organisations who offer resources and a structured approach to prayer. These include:
Intercontinental Church Society: Many of our chaplaincies are funded in some way by ICS. They produce some wonderful resources to enable focused prayer, including those Diocese in Europe chaplaincies that they support.
The Anglican Cycle of Prayer: The Anglican Cycle of Prayer invites Anglicans around the world to pray for one another.
World Council of Churches The Ecumenical Prayer Cycle takes us through every region of the world over the course of a year.
Apps, Videos and Podcasts
The Church of England offers the Time to Pray app, which presents everything you need for Prayer During the Day and Night Prayer in Contemporary form (Common Worship).
The Church of England also offers a Daily Prayer, which can be viewed on their social media or via this page.
Prayer Initiatives
There are many ways that individuals and chaplaincies can be involved nationally or internationally in prayer initiatives. These include:
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: Churches Together in Britain and Ireland organise this traditionally every January but occasionally at Pentecost.
World Council of Churches Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: Congregations and parishes all over the world exchange preachers or arrange special ecumenical celebrations and prayer services.
World Day of Prayer: World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice, annually in March.
Thy Kingdom Come: Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. Many of our chaplaincies participate in this time, keep an eye on our website for some of those each May.
Chaplaincy Initiatives
Many of our chaplaincies also offer an open door to any that can join them online. For example, All Saints chaplaincy in Luxembourg organise Siren Prayer
Keep an eye on chaplaincy social media channels (and ours) to make sure you hear about them and can participate.
Do you know of others?
If your chaplaincy holds prayer groups that are open to all in the diocese, let us know. Or maybe you participate in other prayer events that we haven't shared here? Let us know at communications@europe.anglican.org
