Triple celebration at Holy Trinity, Brussels
This weekend saw three celebrations at Holy Trinity, Brussels.
Firstly, as Bishop Robert shares: "It was a joy to officiate at a baptism and confirmation service today at the Pro-Cathedral of Holy Trinity Brussels. We had 22 candidates from St Paul’s Tervuren, St. John’s Ghent, St Mary and St Martha Leuven as well as Holy Trinity Brussels itself. They were mostly young adults
Four candidates were siblings from the same family: Amélie, Constantin, Maximillian and Cécilia. A long time ago, I blessed the marriage of their parents – Katharina and Alexander, in due course I dedicated three of the children when they were little, and it was a particular pleasure to be confirming all four siblings now that they are old enough to want to affirm their family’s faith for themselves."
Secondly, it was a chance to celebrate the work of Canon John Wilkinson on his retirement. John has served 30 years in the diocese and 13 years at Holy Trinity Brussels. His final service was attended by 250 people and featured some excellent music led by choir, orchestra and worship band. Whilst John takes a well-deserved retirement from stipendiary ministry, he will be continuing with some part-time roles, including being Area Dean of Belgium.
Finally, Heartfelt congratulations to Gayl Russell, on being awarded the British Empire Medal, in King Charles' birthday honours list, Founder Director, Community Kitchen, Brussels, Belgium. For services to Refugees and Vulnerable People in Brussels.
