Refugee Week 2026
Refugee Week this year is 15th-21st June. There are resources on our Supporting Refugee section as well as directly on the Refugee Week website. To highlight this year's theme of the importance of small acts of support we can all offer, here is Bradon Muilenberg, the Anglican Refugee Support Lead in Calais, reflecting on how much these can add up, (originally posted in September 2025);
"The small gestures can actually have way more power than we know."
Bradon has also contributed a prayer he composed for the Diocese which you can read below or download here: A Prayer for Refugees
Oh God our refuge, be with all who flee war, violence, and oppression. Help us be brave enough to step out of our comfort zone and be with them too. Give us grace to stand alongside them without being swayed by a world that can be full of xenophobia, racism, hatred, hostility and fear.
Let us see our neighbours as real neighbours. Allow us to see it as a great privilege if, like the Good Samaritan, we have any opportunity to offer help, to bind up the wounds of violence and to provide a safe place for someone to stay and heal. Help us to love our exiled neighbours as ourselves.
Give us courage to stand against violence in all its forms; and alongside widows, orphans and strangers, even if all the governments of this world turn against them, let us, your Church, be those who never turn our backs on them.
Amen
We would love to hear of any initiatives that you undertake as a chaplaincy - however large or small to come alongside refugees. Email us here: communications@europe.anglican.org
