Marking Refugee Week

Refugees
The annual Refugee Week took place last month. Rev'd Vinod Victor has sent us the following about how the chaplaincy in Freiburg marked it:
"We celebrated the Refugee week in Freiburg encouraging the congregation to recommit to the cause of the Refugee and the migrant in our midst.
At the Refugee Sunday service we focussed on the Old Testament story of Hagar- the Egyptian slave and her son struggling with life in the wilderness and asked what it means to be a "messenger of the Lord" today.
We had two visits to the Initial Reception Centre to the Refugees which is our regular flagship programme.
At the meeting of the Wise ones (our seniors) we had a talk on the ministry with the Refugee- Commitment beyond the expectation of gratitude.

We also had an Open Kitchen where we received 15 young Kurdish men from Turkey who are in the refugee camp and listened to their struggles.
The Young Adults group met at a picnic with friends to talk about how to help migrants genuinely belong.

It was an eventful week indeed."
