 “We are excited to share the House of Bishops’ new Teaching Document ‘Hope for All Creation’ –  it’s not just a good read, but is intended to deepen our understanding of God’s engagement with our world, to change our behaviour and lead to greater environment and climate action.

It is important and timely for the whole Church of England, and has a special connection with our Diocese because our own Bishop Robert chairs the Faith and Order Commission which commissioned it.

The Teaching Document Hope for All Creation can be found here: Environment and climate change | The Church of England, along with accompanying resources for services, small group study, working with children and youth etc. Further resources are being added regularly. There will also be 3 webinars (on Tuesdays 8th, 15th and 22nd September) which are open to all, primarily aimed at church leaders wanting to engage with the material and tackle some common push backs to creation care. In addition, the General Synod approved a new ecumenical festival, the Feast of Creation in Christ, the first new festival for 101 years, which will be celebrated throughout the Church of England on Sunday 6th September this year, and which completes the series of feast days associated with the Nicene Creed. The title "Creation in Christ" emphasises that creation is understood through the person and work of Jesus Christ: created through him, sustained in him and destined for renewal in him. User-friendly ready-to-print liturgical resources have been prepared by colleagues in the Diocese of Lincoln, who have already introduced the specific Feast of Creation in Christ elements into liturgies for the Eucharist and Service of the Word which you can find here: Diocese of Lincoln

All chaplaincies throughout the Diocese in Europe are warmly encouraged to celebrate this new festival and to incorporate the liturgies into your Season of Creation celebrations.
