Friends of the Diocese Newsletter Autumn 2025

Please see below the latest newsletter from the Friends of the Diocese. Note that the next annual reunion is on 21st October, at Southwark Cathedral. Bishop Robert and Bishop Andrew will both be in attendance, and all are welcome.
Dear Friends
Sometimes an event in life leads you down some unusual roads like those occasional detours that crop up when driving. One minute there you are driving merrily along and then the sign ‘road closed’ appears along with detour sign and off you go nervously hoping for a return to the more recognisable route soon. This has been the case for me recently but surprisingly along this life detour, I have briefly met some wonderful people and would call them ‘amis du jour’ or friends of the day. You laugh together sometimes cry together and then move on. This is certainly not the case for the Friends of the Diocese many of whom have been loyal members for years. The Friends of the Diocese has welcomed two new members during June, and they join the loyal group supporting ministry in the Diocese. There will be an opportunity to meet other members of the Friends at the annual Friends’ Service and Reunion and the date for your diary is 21 October in Southwark Cathedral, London, for Choral Evensong at 5.30pm.
There will be an opportunity to meet informally after the service in the Garry Weston Library, where light refreshments will be available. Bishop Robert Innes and Bishop Andrew Norman will be present as well as the new Chairman of the Friends, Guy Milton. Please do let me know if you are going to attend by sending me an email to: jeanne.french@churchofengland.org
The nearest station to Southwark Cathedral is London Bridge. If you need directions, please let me know.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on 21 October.
With all good wishes and many thanks for your continued support,
Jeanne
