SSOM (Self-Supporting Ordained Ministry) Liaison Officer
The Revd Jamie Johnston
Clergy in our diocese work in a variety of self-supporting roles - full time or part time, licensed or with permission to officiate, on a house for duty basis or living in their own homes. All Jamie’s ministry has been in a self-supporting capacity, so he is familiar with the sorts of issue that can arise.
Jamie was ordained in 2016, after working for thirty years as a lawyer in the UK and France advising individuals and families. Following a curacy in London, from 2019 to 2025 he served as Chaplain in Marseille with Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon, before retiring to the south west of France near Toulouse. He currently holds permission to officiate in the Archdeaconry of France.
Jamie’s role (which is a voluntary one) is primarily to be a point of contact for Self-Supporting Ordained Ministers in the diocese, answering questions, giving advice and offering pastoral support. He also liaises with the Bishops over issues that affect self-supporting ordained ministry. He is happy to be contacted at the address below.
