Prayer for those in Self-Supporting Ordained Ministry

Lord, we thank you for all who serve your church in self-supporting ordained ministry.

We acknowledge with gratitude the life they bring to others through word and sacrament.

We thank you for their commitment, for all they give up to help build your kingdom.

Forgive us for the times we have taken their vocations for granted; help us to support them in their ministry.

Strengthen them in service, uphold them in challenge

and, on days when they feel pulled in too many directions,

caught by conflicting commitments,

burdened with over-expectation,

hold them, O Christ, in your wounded hands.

So may the breath of your Spirit sustain them,

the life of the Trinity inspire them

and the joy of your resurrection rise within them,

now and always.

Amen.
