Diocesan safeguarding staffing update
We wish to formally announce the retirements of Bridgett Fenton and Craig Norman, who both left the diocese on 31 March 2026.
Bridgett Fenton concludes 8 years of dedicated service as Safeguarding Adviser. Her commitment and contribution to the safeguarding work of the diocese has been greatly valued. Bridgett will now be able to devote more time to her local parish, where she continues as Safeguarding Officer.
Craig Norman departs after four years in what was initially anticipated to be a short‑term role. We are deeply appreciative of Craig’s expertise and support throughout his time with us. Although retiring, Craig has generously agreed to assist periodically with the development and delivery of the updated leadership training programme scheduled for later this spring.
We extend our sincere thanks to both Bridgett and Craig for their faithful service and dedication, and we are sure you will join us in wishing them every blessing for the future.
Recruitment for these posts is currently underway.
In the interim, safeguarding matters will be managed by the remaining team. As a general guide:
- Safeguarding concerns should be directed to our Head of Safeguarding, Grace Fagan-Stewart and Deputy Head of Safeguarding Andy Munro.
- Training and governance matters will be overseen by Senior Safeguarding Co-Ordinator Nick Sherratt.
All enquiries should continue to be sent to europe.safeguarding@churchofengland.org, which is monitored daily.
