THE CHURCH OF ST THOMAS BECKET, HAMBURG, GERMANY FULL-TIME CHAPLAIN
The bishop seeks to appoint a priest to serve a vibrant, diverse, international community in one of the largest ports in Europe. The “English Church” in Hamburg dates back more than 400 years, with the current building consecrated in 1838. Attendance at Sunday Eucharist is typically 75–80 worshippers from approx. 15 different nationalities.
Hamburg is a thriving mercantile city with an Anglophile tradition, international flair, abundant cultural attractions, and good transport connections. Stipend, generous pension, current accommodation (not barrier free) and expenses are provided. Knowledge of the German language is desirable, though not essential.
