A Prayer for Women's Ministry
Eucharistic Prayer
Creator God, In the beginning you formed humanity;
male and female, both in your image.
You mediated your Law through Deborah,
and called Miriam as a prophet.
In time you called Mary;
through her and by your Spirit,
you gave us your Son Jesus Christ to be our Saviour.
You called the Marys, Joanna and Salome
to witness first to the Risen Lord,
and carry the news of resurrection hope to a world in need.
You called Priscilla, Lydia, Junia and Phoebe
to be apostles, leaders and teachers in the early Church
building community and sharing The Way.
You called Julian, Hildegard and Theresa
to lives of prayer and contemplation
gifting others wisdom for their spiritual journeys.
You called Octavia Hill, Rosa Parks and Dorothy Day,
to speak out for the poor and dispossessed
and to challenge unjust structures and transform society.
For the witness and ministry of women,
and all who respond to God’s call,
we gladly thank you.
