Mervyn was previously the Director of Strategy and Global Change at Christian Aid where he played a key role on the executive team for seven years. Before that, he was General Secretary of the Irish Council of Churches where he energised the collective work of the churches in Ireland. He has worked for the Methodist Church in Britain, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka as a partnership and strategy consultant and has extensive experience working in Indonesia. 

In London, Mervyn serves as a Lay Canon and a Non-Executive member of the Chapter at St Paul’s Cathedral.
