Ecumenical Week for Young People

24 to 31 August 2008

Nimes, France

The Revd Stephen Coffin, Anglican chaplain of Grenoble in our diocese is representing our Church once again in the organisation in France of an ecumenical week for young people, aged between 20 & 30. It takes place in Nimes, France, this year from 24th to 31st August 2008.

The hope is that young people, who may play significant roles in the Church in the future, will learn more of other Churches and become committed to the ecumenical endeavour.

Each day focuses on different Churches or aspects of ecumenism, including a visit to an Orthodox monastery, time spent with the local Roman Catholic Bishop in frank dialogue, visits to local places which were significant in the wars of religion.  Visiting speakers explain their Churches (Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, and Anglican).  The participants prepare & lead worship, and are accompanied by clergy from the different Churches throughout the week.

There are spaces set aside for Anglican young people to join the week.  They need to be reasonably fluent in French, since that is the language used for the week.

The cost for full board is €250 for the whole week. (Transport to & from the week is not included.)

If you are interested in attending or know of someone who might be, please contact the Revd Stephen Coffin at stephen.coffin@gmail.com.
